Hanging with mr. theo.

Well, well, well, why don’t you look at that; I am posting two weeks in a row! This is a recap of last weekend. Last weekend really tested my patience and ability to be a responsible adult. Long story short, I had to babysit my 5 year old nephew for the weekend. Yeah, you must be thinking that was easy and isn’t a big deal. But, if you know me and how bad I am with kids, then you know that this was definitely a challenge for me.

Normally, my mom would watch over my nephew, Theo. But, my mom was out on vacation in Spain. You may be wondering why this all came about. The entire plot twist to this was that my sister went into labor suddenly Friday night. So, that meant I had to step up to taking care of Theo. Shout out to Justine for coming over that evening, because if she didn’t stay over that weekend, Theo would have been giving me a hard time. Don’t get me wrong, Theo is an amazing and great kid, he just gives me a challenge and is a little stubborn when it comes to listening to me. But, with his Auntie Justine, he will listen to anything she tells him.

The timing of all this happening was a complete coincidence. Justine and I already had planned to take Theo out to celebrate his final days as an only child and to help out my sister and brother-in-law to prep the house for the upcoming baby. But, instead of final days of being an only child transformed to final hours of being an only child. Saturday turned into a Theo day. We took Theo to CuriOdyssey at Coyote Point in San Mateo. CuriOdyssey is basically a small Zoo and the Exploratorium combined into one.

After CuriOdyssey, we went to Hillsdale mall to grab some food and surprise Theo with a trip to the Lego store. We had lunch at Shake Shack and then just did a casual peruse around the mall. We each picked up random blind boxes from some toy store. So, when we got to the Lego store Theo didn’t seem as excited as I was expecting; maybe because he already knew I bought him something at CuriOdyssey and a little blind box. But, as soon as Justine told Theo that I was going to buy him a Lego set, his face lit up, he had the biggest smile, was beyond ecstatic, and he screamed out the happiest “YESSSS!” while running around the store to find the perfect Lego set within my budget lol. We wrapped up the mall trip with some cotton candy and headed home to watch the latest Jurassic World movie.

Sunday morning, Theo woke us up telling us that his stomach was hurting. I ordered breakfast to be delivered to the house, and as soon as he heard me mention waffles, he shot up and instantly said he likes and wanted waffles and bacon. When we all went downstairs to eat, Theo didn’t have an appetite and said he was tired and just wanted to sleep, so we let Theo sleep it off throughout the day. After letting Theo sleep for majority of the day, he felt way better. Justine and I think he was just tired and hungover from “The Best Day Ever” in Theo’s words. We finally got the chance to go to the hospital so Theo could meet his new baby sister, Chloe.

Justine and I left Theo with his parents at the hospital to spend some time with them and meet, Chloe; since this might’ve been the longest time Theo was away from his parents. This was the only moment Justine and I were able to have our time together, so we went to check out this Ramen spot I wanted to try. Easily the best Ramen I have ever had. Make sure to check out Ushi Taro Ramen in the Sunset!

It was a tough and challenging weekend. We both didn’t get the best sleep and were drained. But, I will say I really did enjoy spending the weekend looking after Theo. Sorry for the long rant and thank you for reading this far if you did! ‘Til the next one, enjoy these photos.
